Hothfield Common to Pluckley

Out of Car park -> turn left -> cross road to Information sign -> through gate into wood -> path straight on through wood -> then left -> emerge onto open common -> turn right heading west -> at Greensand way signpost -> follow link path sign half right -> Pass pond on your left -> through steel/chain squeeze stile -> cross small stream -> cross stile -> continue ahead (ignore stile on right) over next stile  ->

pass reservoir -> cross stile by steel gate -> cross field to stile -> cross stile and footbridge -> follow path into  Coldham wood -> cross next stile -> follow path through wood -> (ignore track to left) emerge from wood into Ram Lane -> cross lane to stile -> cross stile into field  -> cross field ->  into Ram Lane -> turn right ->  follow lane to Little Chart Forstal ->pass ColdhamandGranary(houses) -> and village green -> 

at road junction turn right -> passForstal Farmhouse-> pass ponds on right and left -> pass Thatch-> follow path round to left of Thatch-> over stile and footbridge into field -> follow hedge to next stile -> cross stile -> bear half right downhill -> heading for the left side of Laundry and Dering Cottages -> at road turn right into Little Chart -> pass church on left -> pass Swan Inn on right -> at road junction -> straight on ->

up lane at right of Rockhurst -> sign posted (Stour Valley Way) -> Pass Mill ponds on right -> follow edge of field round to the left then turn right into parts of woodland and orchard -> follow Stour Valley Way -> ahead -> cross stile by steel gate -> continue past farm buildings following track right then left -> ahead up enclosed path to right side of drive -> follow path to remains of St Mary's Church ->follow path down to road ->

Beware:- path emerges on bend of busy road ->
turn left -> stay on grass verge on left of road -> pass farm (The Granary) on left -> at left bend in road cross road -> take path on right side of road -> through gate into orchard -> follow path (SVW) to Little Pipers wood -> through wood to Nettlepole lane -> Straight across field -> towards the end of a line of trees -> about 100 yards before the trees turn half right -> heading for Pevington farm on the brow of the hill keep woodland to your right -> go through steel gate -> follow track to the road.

[ Alternative :- if  field ploughed -> turn  right -> follow Nettlepole lane to road -> at T junction with road turn left -> pass industrial estate -> at road junction turn left ]->

at road  turn left -> (Pevington Farm) -> Follow road to to junction  at brow of hill -> turn right -> down road  becoming a grass track -> pass Hill Cottage (on your right) -> ignore stile straight on -> follow track round to left -> continue on track downhill to Elvey Farm Country Hotel -> turn left past front of farmhouse -> ahead past Oast -> through gate into field -> head for gate in right hand corner of field -> follow path across stream -> follow  Greensand Way bridle way signs -> 

uphill heading for Pluckley Church spire-> through two wooden bridle gates then through steel bridle gate -> follow drive to road -> turn left -> at road junction -> turn right into The Street -> The Black horse Inn  is on the left -> shops on the right.
